After You Left

After you left
I laid the poems of Charles Bukowski
And Pablo Neruda out side by side
To compare their suffering to mine
But it was too much suffering
For the moon to bear
It cried out in agony and went blind
Plunging the night into total darkness
The wind stopped breathing
Gravity lost its grip
And let everything slip
Slowly away into the vacuum of space
And I was left to drift
In an empty universe
Lit dimly by stars
Scattered from one end to the other
